Welcome Service for Rev Colin Houston

Rev Colin Houston with Lay Pastor, Emma Fleming

On Sunday 20th September 2026 Omagh and Fintona Circuit held a Welcome Service for Rev Colin Houston in Togherdoo Methodist Church at 7:30 PM. Church members from across the circuit were warmly welcomed by lay pastor, Emma Fleming. The call to worship (Psalm 100) was read by Richard Henderson and the opening prayer led by Rhona Alcorn.

Thereafter the service followed a printed programme in which Rev Philip Corrigan was welcomed in his capacity as District Superintendent by Reggie Mills. Before confirming Rev Colin as the minister appointed by conference Rev Philip recalled his own time on the circuit at the outset of his ministry some 20 years ago. With all standing he put a series of questions to Rev Colin who responded appropriately before being formally welcomed by Yvonne McQuade, Circuit Treasurer.

The sermon at the evening service was delivered by Rev Corrigan. It followed an uplifting worship piece entitled “Living Hope” sung by Rhona Alcorn. A closing prayer for Rev Colin, Rev Philip and the circuit was led by Esther Miller in her capacity as Omagh Society Steward. The benediction and grace for the lovely supper which followed was pronounced by Rev Corrigan.

Throughout the service there was a wrap-around feeling of warmth and welcome for Rev Colin and his wife Sharon, with everyone looking forward to their time among us.
