Report – M.W.I. Meeting 18th October 2021

Photo: Members M.W.I in Church Sunday 24 October 2021     On Monday 18th October 2021 twenty-four members and friends of Omagh MWI met for the first time since Covid restrictions began.   The meeting was held in the church at the front with a large semi-circle of chairs, maintaining the space required by social distancing, but still supporting a warm friendly atmosphere.

The speaker was Reverend Leah McKibben.  This was Reverend Leah’s first visit to the MWI group and her address was enjoyed by all present.  Some members of the group are pictured above following the morning service on Sunday 24th October.  The next MWI meeting is on Monday 15th November at 8:00 PM and new members are welcome to come along.

M.W.I. Meeting 10 February 2020   At the February meeting of Omagh Methodist W.W.I. the guest speaker was Mrs Eva Baxter, drama teacher and storyteller.  Mrs Baxter, attired in period costume, depicted the story of the Wesley Family including sons Charles and John who became the founding fathers of Methodism. The famous brothers were but two of the large family of Sam and Susanna Wesley.

Eva, in the role of Mother Susanna, gave a very realistic and word-perfect account of Susanna’s life and times, providing a great insight into life at Epworth Rectory. She left the room full of M.W.I ladies spell-bound after a very enjoyable and well attended evening.
Next Meeting: M.W.I. breakfast Saturday 14th March at 9.00 am in the Peter Good Hall

MWI Service Harold McCauley Home, 26th January 2020
The first meeting of 2020 took place on Sunday 26th January. The meeting was the annual service in Harold McCauley Home. The room was well filled with residents and staff who all joined enthusiastically in the singing of popular hymns from Mission Praise. President Doreen Preston led the short service, with Anne McBain leading in prayer, Ruth Alcorn doing the Bible reading and Rhona Alcorn giving a beautiful solo. Rev Eleanor involved the residents in her very up-lifting address and expressed her appreciation to the staff for the refreshments provided for the choir after the service.
