Ukraine Appeal

We have all been greatly shocked and saddened by the situation in Ukraine. It is heart-breaking to see the impact on people, and the desperate journey so many are making to neighbouring countries to flee the invasion.

Our Irish Methodist family wants to respond to this crisis in prayer and giving. The World Development and Relief, and World Mission Partnership departments of the Methodist Church have shared news with us from the church in that region, and ask us to respond. They say:

“We have been advised by those responding on the ground, that financial support is currently the priority (not material things, although partners will inform us should this change).
This will enable our sister churches to respond to refugee needs. They have already begun this…
In Poland, the main buildings of the United Methodist Church in Warsaw are full of refugees and they are being cared for.
Some funds can also be channelled to meet needs within Ukraine itself.
This financial support will be sent through our sister churches in the region.
This is an emergency. Please do not delay in sending donations.”

On our Omagh and Fintona Circuit we are going to be having retiring offerings for this appeal over the next two Sundays – the 13th and 20th March. Please prayerfully consider what you could give towards this emergency situation. There will also be Gift Aid envelopes available for you to use if you are able.

You can keep updated with how our Methodist Church partners are responding through the World Development and Relief website; and please do keep praying for this situation.

Thank you.
