MAYNE DEDICATION SERVICE

Rev Eleanor Hayden and Rev Colin Houston

Sunday, 6th September 2026 a special service was held in Mayne Methodist Church to dedicate the new roof and refurbishments. It was the culmination of much work and fundraising by its congregation, but the outcome was well worth all the prayer, energy and effort. In addition to a new roof the exterior walls had been stripped back to the stone, plastered and painted. Inside the body of the church was resplendent with fresh decoration and new varnish on the pews and floor. Outside the garden and car park had been given a makeover and the whole finished off with a new sign board.

The service of dedication was led by Rev Colin Houston and the achievements celebrated in a sermon by Rev Eleanor Hayden who had presided over many meetings of the church council along the road to completion. Readings during the service were delivered by circuit steward Paul Hawkes and church members Victor Kelly and Gary Hawkes. Music was provided by Roberta Monteith who not only led the congregation in praise but accompanied Rhona Alcorn in two lovely solo pieces.

Supper was served in an atmosphere filled with rejoicing and confidence in the future for this wonderful little country church.
