Omagh Methodist Church Shoebox appeal 2025
The annual shoebox appeal, organised by Mrs Beverley Alcorn, brought in 77 shoeboxes to brighten the Christmas of boys and girls who otherwise might not receive any gifts this year. To prepare for the event Beverley patiently acquires shoeboxes and wraps each one in Christmas paper. These are then left at the back of the church for members of the congregation to take away and fill. Guidance is available as to what to put in the boxes (and what not to put in) depending on the age and gender of the child who will getting the box. The boxes are left at the front of the church for collection and forwarding to the charity which arranges for their delivery across Europe and Africa. It is hoped that the children who receive the boxes will feel the love and goodwill which accompanies the carefully chosen gifts. The piles of boxes in accompanying photos speak volumes for the kindness and generosity of the members of the congregation of Omagh Methodist Church.
