Morning Service Sunday 28th January 2024, Preacher Dr. Stephen Skuce

[L – R] Mr Paul Hawkes, Mrs Yvonne McQuade, Dr. Skuce, Mr Kenneth Strong
The morning service in Omagh Methodist Church at 11.30am on Sunday 8th January 2024 was led by Rev Dr. Stephen Skuce, District Superintendent. He was warmly welcomed by Society Steward, Mrs Ether Millar. In his opening remarks Dr Skuce stated how good it was to back on the circuit, which included taking the morning service in Drumquin before moving on to Omagh. Dr Skuce enlivened his address with anecdotes from his sojourn in Sri Lanka including the time when the largest snake he had ever seen fell from the rafters onto the floor of the church during a service. Not surprisingly, the congregation scattered.
Dr. Skuce took his sermon from the Old Testament of Book of Mica, Chapter 3, drawing parallels with St Matthew’s gospel Ch 21 in which Jesus overturns the tables of the money-lenders in the temple courts. After the service Dr, Skuce was entertained to lunch in the church where he was joined by the society stewards from each of the five churches on the circuit.
