Men’s Breakfast, Togherdoo, Saturday 11 February 2023
On Saturday 11th February 2023 Togherdoo Methodist Church was the venue for a Men’s Breakfast event organised by Christian Vision for Men as part of the church’s 150th anniversary celebrations. The occasion drew support from men across a wide swathe of Tyrone and Fermanagh. In all some 60 men enjoyed a tasty Ulster fry provided by caterers Gordon and Barbara Moore.
Mr James McKean
Following a brief time of prayer and worship Mr Reggie Mills introduced the guest speaker, Mr. James McKean, a beef farmer from Co Donegal with fields on the banks of the River Foyle. Having spoken about his faith and family James turned his attention to those beliefs which form the foundations of Godly life. Drawing on passages of scripture from Genesis, and verses elsewhere in the Bible, he addressed some of the issues confronting the church in the 21st century, including gender, sexuality, relationships, spirituality, authority and responsibility. He proclaimed that by honouring the basics of our belief, a society for God’s glory will emerge. He concluded that the future for Christianity is bright, not bleak, if the foundations of our faith are secure.
