Order of Service
The Lord’s supper: Holy Communion
Preparation: Grape Juice & Portion of Bread.
Preparation of Heart and Mind.
Stillness before God the Marker of Heaven and Earth
Stillness before His Son, Jesus Christ who give His life for you.
Openness to the Power of the Holy Spirit to transform your life.
The Peace of the Lord be always with you.
Once more the opportunity is before us.
Once more the table is laid, the invitation extended –
The simplest of meals,
The most wonderful of banquets;
A morsel of bread and sip of wine –
Yet for us the greatest of feasts.
For Christ is here among us,
Welcoming us as his people,
Greeting us as his friends,
Offering us lasting nourishment,
Not just for our bodies, but for our souls.
Bring then your hunger, your thirst, your emptiness,
Your barren souls, for you shall be filled.
Bring your weakness, your lack of faith, your fragile discipleship,
For you shall find forgiveness.
Bring your fears, your doubts, your darkness, your despair, for you shall find light.
Bring your pain, your mortality, your dread of death,
your search for some lasting meaning, for you shall find life.
Bring your hurt, your loneliness, your longing, bring your sin,
For you shall find love.
The table is laid and Christ is here, waiting for you to join him,
Waiting for you to receive his gifts, waiting to bless you,
As he has blessed his people across the ages.
Come and open your heart to the one who alone can meet its deepest needs.
Come and rejoice in all that he has done.
Amen. Thanks be to God.
Prayer of Confession
Lord, we come to your table trusting in your mercy and not in any goodness of our own. We are not worthy even to gather up the crumbs under your table, but it is your nature always to have mercy, and on that we depend. Feed us with the body and blood of Jesus Christ, your Son, that we may forever live in him and he in us. Amen.
Let us, draw near with faith. Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was given for you, and his blood, which was shed for you; and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.
The body of Christ given for you.
The blood of Christ shed for you.
Prayer of Thankfulness: The bread has been broken, the wine poured out. The supper is over, and the world still waits. Go then, and offer your service your faith and your love, until the world rejoices, and the kingdom is come. And may God go with you, this day and always. Amen.
