Circuit Service for President’s Visit

[Seated L- R] Gareth Hayden, Rev Eleanor Hayden, Rev Sam McGuffin, President,  Mrs Linda McGuffin with representatives of the 5 churches in the circuit

On Sunday, 3 February, Rev Sam McGuffin, President of the Methodist Church in Ireland was the special guest at an evening service held in Omagh Methodist church.   Rev Eleanor welcomed members from each of the five churches which together make up the Omagh and Fintona circuit and expressed her appreciation to all those who had volunteered to take part in the service.   Each church had a place in the Order of Service with different members from across the circuit leading in prayer, reading, singing solo or taking part in dramatised passages of Scripture. The President has a special word for the children, telling them of his ministry in Fili and allowing them to see and feel the tooth of a large whale, given to him as a rare gift by the Methodists of these enchanted isles.   Rev McGuffin illustrated his sermon to the adult members of the congregation with a power point presentation which celebrated the joys of story-telling.   Despite the multi-million Disney classics of recent years he proclaimed that the greatest story ever told was the Story of Jesus. Those who believe the story and have the conviction to share it with others are richly blessed.   After the service supper was served in the Peter Good Hall with everyone enjoying the food and fellowship.
