Christmas Morning, Omagh Methodist Church
At 10.00 am on Christmas morning Rev Eleanor welcomed families and friends into Omagh Methodist Church to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Her words of welcome were echoed by Fr. Hassan who brought greetings from the congregation of the Sacred Heart Church. Following the lighting of the Christmas Candle in the Advent Wreath, best wishes were extended to 8-year-old Holly, with a cheerful rendering of “Happy Birthday” for a happy smiling girl whose birthday falls on Christmas Day. After a short time of praise and reflection and the singing of some familiar carols Rev Eleanor invited the children to come forward and show off some of the presents which Santa had brought. Interestingly Father Christmas did seem well acquainted with the latest electronic games and toys from the world of Children’s Television. In a move which caused some amusement she encouraged one young man to take pot shots at Mr Freddie Caldwell with his NERF gun. The service ended with an invitation from Rev Eleanor for members of the congregation to cross the floor and wish each other a Very Merry Christmas.
