Mayne Methodist Church celebrated the second of its Harvest Services on Monday 14th October at 8.00 pm. Mr Gareth Hayden welcomed Rev Lorna Dreaning from Enniskillen as the special speaker and the Voices in Praise choral group from Omagh. The church was beautifully decorated with fruits and flowers of field and farm, with each window recess providing a frame for imaginative seasonal displays. Having opened with the introit “Lead me Lord” the choir under the direction of Mrs Betty Doonan led the congregation in praise and sang two further pieces that were much appreciated by all present. Rev Dreaning’s sermon, based on Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan women at the well, focused on the harvest of souls when God will reap what we have sown in our lives. A lovely Harvest Supper followed, served by members of the Mayne congregation to visitors and guests as they remained seated in the pews, the existing hall being too small for such a number as was gathered in the church.
