On Sunday 21 July 2019 the special preacher at the morning service was Miss Audrey Hodge, Clerk of Session , 1st Omagh Presbyterian Church.  Audrey’s memorable sermon on St John’s third letter included the following advice on what to plant in a church garden

In growing a healthy, fruit-bearing church, try this plan:

Plant three rows of squash
• squash gossip
• squash criticism
• squash indifference

Plant seven rows of peas
• prayer – at all times
• promptness – quick to offer and to serve
• perseverance – don’t give up easily
• politeness – respect others’ opinions
• preparedness – to act out your faith
• purity – in lifestyle
• patience – as God has for us

Plant seven heads of lettuce
• let us be unselfish & loyal
• let us be faithful to duty
• let us search the scriptures
• let us not be weary in well doing
• let us be obedient in all things
• let us be truthful
• let us love one another

No garden is complete without turnips
• turn up for church
• turn up for meetings, in prayer and Bible Study
• turn up with a smile, even when things are difficult
• turn up with determination to do your best in God’s service

(2Peter 3:18) After planting, may you grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour. And may you reap rich results.
