The North West and Lakelands District held their annual Global Vision Service in Omagh Methodist Church on Sunday evening 24th February 2019.   Rev Eleanor Hayden, District Superintendent of the North West District, welcomed the large congregation who heard two challenging speakers, Rev Dr Stephen Skuce and Rev Dr Barry Sloane speak enthusiastically about their work in the mission field.

Rev Dr Barry Sloane spoke of his work serving as a mission partner to the United Methodist Church in Germany where his main tasks in God’s work are in the areas of evangelism, congregational development and church planting. He works 50% of his time as Director of Evangelism for the United Methodist Church in Germany and 50% as Europe Relationship Coordinator for the Methodist Church in Britain. His wife Gillian who was also in attendance spoke about their children’s ministry and the various projects. Both outlined their work as part of the leadership team in INSPIRE, which they had started in Chemnitz City in Germany.

Rev Dr Stephen Skuce, currently serving as Director of Global Relations for the British Methodism, thanked everyone for their prayerful and financial support for world mission. He referred as to how the financial contributions are used in supporting 80.5 million Methodists throughout the world and the opportunities given and taken. Rev Skuce briefly referred to his appointment as the new District Superintendent of the new North Western District of the church. He returns to Irish Methodism in July to take up this important appointment.

A time of fellowship was had with the serving of supper at close of the evening.
